De World Poker Tour doet begin November het Casino Municipal d’Amneville aan. Van 30 oktober t/m 6 november staat er qualifiers, side events en een €3.500 ME op het programma. Op de Part[Po]ker blog kwam onze landgenoot Tom Sigmond aan het woord over de WPT. Sigmond won online een ticket en speelde de WPT Boekarest.
Eerder dit jaar werd al een WPT gehouden in Boekarest en in mei staan Parijs (8-13 mei) en Barcelona (19-23 mei) op het programma. Amneville ligt in het noorden van Frankrijk net onder Luxemburg, op zo’n 450 kilmeter rijden vanaf Utrecht. Christophe Schanne, manager van Casino Municipal D’Amneville: “We are delighted to welcome the World Poker Tour to Amneville for this unique French tournament.”
Tom Sigmond deed op de Part[Po]ker blog zijn verhaal over het winnen van een ‘Pick your own WPT package’. Iedereen zondag is er op Part[Po]ker een WPT satellite. Sigmond kwamen we in Rotterdam bij de Easter Series of Poker nog tegen aan de finaletafel van het €500 event, waar hij derde werd en €9500 won na een fourway deal.
Over de WPT en zijn satellite zei hij onder meer: “The most exiting part was when we were down to four players and there where three packages to win. There was a big stack who was a very good player and was bullying the other three. It was all preflop game. The final hand was my hand 44 in the sb against JJ in the bb. I knew if I completed the sb or would raise it up, the bb would probably go all-in. A raise did cost too much of my stack so the best choice was to go all-in. I didn’t expect the bb to wake up with the JJ’s! Fortunately for me I turned a 4 and the BB was eliminated and I (together with the other two) won the package. This last hand turned out to be lucky for me but sometimes you just need a little bit of luck. I did play the whole tournament very well and had my far share of bad beats so I guess when you get lucky sometimes, you deserve it.”
Een beetje welverdiend geluk voor Sigmond dus, die bij de WPT Boekarest overigens geen potten kon breken. “I think the WPT is, along the EPT, the most important tournament circuit of the world. Big names, big money, television and maybe big sponsors; it’s all there. I also like to watch the WPT on television if I get the chance. I choose the WPT in Romania. The reason for that is because its relatively nearby (I live in The Netherlands) for me and I want to play as much WPT’s as possible this year so I start with this one and hope to win some more packages for future WPT’s this year.” Wie weet zien we Sigmond dus nog terug bij één van de Europese WPT’s dit jaar, of in het Holland Casino natuurlijk.
